Question on Credit Card application, Business number?

Where it asks if I’m employed and then “company name” “position” and then it says “business number” —-I don’t have a business number…do they mean the Company number?

I’m confused…

why would they need that number anyways? are they going to call them up and confirm my position?

    It is as a rule to get in touch with you or your employer if you get to far behind in your payments, they will ask to speak to you and the company does not have to devulge any personal information only that you work there or if you left the company and if so they can’t say why or if they do they can’t say you were discharged.
